BEAR HUNTING

In Altai there live central Russian bears, belonging to the group of European-Siberian bears. Brown bear is a massive, heavy, large animal. Paws are gross, strong; head is big, down as they walk. Wool is thick; color varies from very light, stramineous to almost black – with different tints.

Spring season (30 April – 30 May)

Hunting on the territories of the JSC “Uch-Sumer”. ÏThe tour’s duration is 12 days. Removal by motor launch along the Katun river or by horse. Sleeping in a basic camp in a wooden house with a stove, in the camp there is a bathhouse; sleeping during one- or two days routes – in tents or in the open air by fire. Approaching hunting in the mornings and in the evenings in southern slopes (in the sun) during bears’ feeding with bait.

Autumn – 01 September - 31 December

Ust-Kan region – tour’s duration is 12 daysThe hunting is held nearby the sources of the Koksa river near the border with Kazakhstan. Delivery from Mendur-Soccon village over a pass to the hunting place is done by a go-anywhere vehicle: ÓÀÇ (UAZ), ÃÀÇ 63 (GAZ 63). The way takes 7 hours. Accommodation: an appointed tent camp. Removals during the hunting are made by horses or on foot. The hunting is held in the mornings and in the evenings by approaching in the slopes of the mountains; in the daytime battue hunting is made. Guides: 2õ1. During pastime in the camp – fishing (grayling).

Ust-Koksa region – concealing hunting, with warehouse. Duration of the tour is 12 days. Removals during the hunting are made by horses. Sleeping in a wooden hunters’ cabin with a stove, in the place there is a bathhouse. Sleeping during one- or two days routes – in tents or in the open air by fire. Guides: 2 õ 1. Approaching hunting in the mornings and in the evenings in the southern slopes (in the sun) during bears’ feeding, with trackhounds.

November, December

Bear in the den. The tour’s duration is 12 days. Removals during the hunting are made by snowmobile, horses, on foot. Sleeping is in a wooden hunters’ cabin with a stove, in the place there is a bathhouse. Guides: 2 õ 1. The hunting is carried out in the daytime. Using of specially taught dogs is possible.
